Must-Try Fall Treats in New Orleans!

The leaves are starting to change color, and local eateries in New Orleans are celebrating with fall flavored treats. Fall is the season for all things apple, maple, and pumpkin spice. If you have yet to sip on a pumpkin spice latte this fall, here is a guide to the top five essential fall dessert stops in New Orleans to help you cozy up this season.

District Donuts’s fall menu is filled with all things pumpkin. The pumpkin cheesecake donut is filled with a cheesecake filling and topped with a fresh ginger glaze, pecan-graham cracker crumble, and pepita brittle. The pumpkin fritter option is topped with a sweet glaze and a toasted marshmallow-maple drizzle. Wash it all down with a pumpkin spice caramel latte to drink!

Creole Creamery is a delicious New Orleans staple, and their festive fall ice cream flavors are no different. Their seasonal menu features flavors of pumpkin praline, maple walnut blondie, caramel apple cider, and oatmeal cookie. In celebration of Halloween, try the creepy flavors of doom buggy, flaming jack-o-lantern, or my personal favorite, boo berry pie— which is infused with Boo Berry cereal and frosted blueberry Pop Tarts.

If warm cookies are more your thing, Insomnia Cookies features a pumpkin cheesecake cookie on their fall menu. The cookie has flavors of pumpkin spice with vanilla cream cheese chips and crunchy graham crackers. Pair   the cookie with a scoop of ice cream or buttercream icing with the big dipper box option. Insomnia stays open until three AM, which is a perfect treat for those spooky fall season late nights!

Caramel apples are an essential fall treat, and Mister Apple NOLA features gourmet dipped apples, ice cream, and desserts year round. Stop in their French Quarter location for a jumbo apple dipped in creamy caramel sauce or a chocolate of your choice. Their shop also serves authentic New Orleans pralines, and their signature praline apple is a must-try this fall season.

Willa Jean is known for its bakery’s wide selection of house-made breads and pastries, so it’s no surprise their fall menu did anything but disappoint. The menu features toasted pumpkin bread with whipped cranberry cream, griddled banana bread, cornbread with cane syrup, and the favorite cinnamon monkey bread with toffee sauce. You can even pre-order one of their delicious pies for your Thanksgiving dinner. With this menu, it’s hard to go wrong.
