October in NOLA: Event Roundup

Festival Season is Here!

October in New Orleans brings cooler weather (hopefully!) and lots of festivals and events to attend. Haven’t decided what to do this month? We’ve got the events roundup to help you decide.

This year is the second annual Beignet Fest in City Park. Attendance is free, and there will be music and lots of beignets to taste, so head on over to the Festival Grounds at City Park on Saturday, October 7th. For more information, go to beignetfest.com.

Are you a fan of film? The New Orleans Film Fest runs at a variety of venues (Orpheum Theater, Canal Place, Broad Theater, Prytania Theatre) from October 11-19 and features over two hundred different films, short films, documentaries, music videos, and more. Tickets to individual screenings are $13 each; go catch an interesting movie (that isn’t on Netflix) this month! For more information, go to neworleansfilmsociety.org.

If you like music and delicious food, the Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival is also going on from Friday, October 13 to Sunday, October 15 in Lafayette Square Park in NOLA. Attendance is free and there will be musical performances, an arts market, and of course, some of New Orleans’s best barbecue restaurants will be selling food. For more information, see jazzandheritage.org/blues-fest/.

Boo at the Zoo is a kid-friendly event happening at the Audubon Zoo from 5-9 PM on October 20-21 and October 27-28. There will be trick-or-treating, a haunted house, and other events for kids 12 and under, so dress up and bring your little siblings! See audubonnatureinstitute.org/batz for more.

The last and undoubtedly most popular event happening in October is Voodoo Fest in City Park from October 27 to 29th. This year’s headliners are Kendrick Lamar and the Foo Fighters. Don’t forget to check out some of the smaller stages, stay hydrated, and wear your sunscreen! For more information, see voodoofestival.com.
